How Progesterone Can Help Prevent and Reverse Osteoporosis

One of the problems that some people face is bone loss. Changes occur and the body stops being able to produce bone. The bones then become porous, which makes them fragile and easy to break.

Medical studies have shown that there’s a direct link because the hormone progesterone and a person’s long term bone health. When you don’t have enough progesterone, you end up not being able to make new bone and you have problems with the bone density and strength.

The key to preventing and reversing osteoporosis and the often devasting side effects of the condition is to make sure that you have a healthy amount of progesterone. You can’t do that if you have a hormone imbalance, which is yet another reason that your hormone balance is vital to your health.

If you take progesterone therapy, it boosts the body’s ability to produce bone. It also thickens, strengthens bones and can repair the damage caused by osteoporosis. A progesterone imbalance is something that can occur whether you’re a woman or a man – although most men are unaware of this.

As you get older, you lose levels of progesterone. Men will also lose testosterone. When these two hormones are low, it causes the estrogen production to go up. As a result of that, men start having a lack of interest in sex, fatigue and the growth of breast tissue.

Some men gain weight and mistakenly attribute the growth of the breast tissue solely to the weight gain. Men also lose bone density and can become prone to easily breaking bones.

When a woman experiences a decrease in her progesterone, it can cause some similar symptoms. She can experience insomnia, headaches and loss of bone density. One of the times in her life that a woman needs to pay close attention to her progesterone levels is during menopause, when the production of this hormone drastically drops.

When your progesterone levels are off balance, you need to restore them for the sake of your bone health. But you must be careful to avoid taking synthetic progesterone. While this can help to restore bone health, one of the well known side effects is cancer in both men and women.

On the flip side, if you have progesterone loss, this is known to cause your odds of getting cancer to rise. By taking progesterone hormone therapy in the prescribed form, it gets to work quickly, boosting your body to make new bone – which can fix what osteoporosis has already done to your bones.

If you need to take progesterone, you need to take a bioidentical form. This way you won’t end up with side effects that make you feel awful and that negatively impact your health.
